Chapter 11, Day 3
Chapter 11, Day 3
Chen Yang sat up abruptly, muttered a curse under his breath, and looked in the direction of the sound.
A plank was floating not far away, and a burly man was frantically banging on it with an iron pipe, trying to attract attention.
Chen Yang squinted and sized up the other person. He was burly and clearly not someone to be trifled with.
"To save them or not?"
"Save him my ass!" Chen Yang didn't even consider such a thankless and pointless task, and immediately gave up the idea of saving the person.
But the sound of the iron pipe hitting the wooden board was so jarring that it annoyed him.
Chen Yang simply found a suitably shaped plank in the pile of debris on the water's surface to use as a paddle, aimed it in the opposite direction from the burly man, and started rowing with his head down.
He rowed for about twenty minutes until the knocking sound was completely gone, and then he breathed a sigh of relief.
"Finally, some peace and quiet."
Chen Yang stretched and was about to lie down when a voice suddenly rang in his ear:
"Hey...can I go up? I can share half of the supplies with you."
The sound startled Chen Yang so much that his hair stood on end. He turned his head sharply and found a head floating on the water—it was that fierce girl.
"Holy crap, where did you come from? I didn't see you while we were boating."
Chen Yang looked closely and muttered, "That's right, with only your head sticking out, who could notice you?"
Mengmei was clinging tightly to a piece of broken wood, with half of her body submerged in water.
Her face was frighteningly pale, and her lips were a dark purple; she was clearly suffering from severe hypothermia and on the verge of collapse.
Logically speaking, Chen Yang had no reason to save her.
But there are still five days until the end of the dungeon. If he doesn't eat anything for those five days, it won't be pleasant. He can't just starve himself and start gnawing on a raft.
Chen Yang's gaze fell on the large bag behind Meng Mei; the supplies must be inside.
Noticing Chen Yang's scrutinizing gaze, Meng Mei's heart began to pound.
In this godforsaken place, it would be perfectly reasonable for Chen Yang to kill her and steal her bag.
Now all she can do is gamble, gamble that this seemingly unreliable weirdo still has some humanity left in him.
Do you have a weapon?
Chen Yang looked down at the water. The girl was clinging tightly to the plank with both hands, and with the water obscuring the view, he couldn't see what was happening below at all.
Zhang Xiaolan's heart sank. Although she was uneasy, she knew she had no choice.
She took a deep breath and slowly pulled a wet fruit knife out of the water.
"Give me the knife." Chen Yang held out his hand, his tone leaving no room for argument.
Zhang Xiaolan sighed inwardly and obediently handed over her weapon.
She had been soaking in the icy water all night, and her strength was completely exhausted. She could barely stand, let alone fight Chen Yang.
She had no choice but to entrust her life to the man in front of her.
Chen Yang took the knife and grabbed Zhang Xiaolan's wrist with his other hand.
With his formidable strength of 39 points, he simply lifted her up as easily as lifting a chick, pulling her from the water onto the raft.
The small raft shook violently a few times.
Chen Yang didn't rush to settle her in. Instead, he first roughly searched Zhang Xiaolan from head to toe to make sure she wasn't hiding anything else before casually throwing the fruit knife into the water.
As for the supply package, he opened it, glanced at it, and then tossed it aside.
"Let me make it clear from the start,"
Chen Yang looked at her coldly.
"If you dare to do anything funny during these five days, I will personally throw you back into the water."
"Nod if you can accept it, otherwise I'll send you down right now."
Zhang Xiaolan wanted to complain, but she was already extremely weak; the ordeal had exhausted her last bit of strength.
She could only huddle in a corner of the raft and nod stiffly and slowly.
After Zhang Xiaolan nodded, her eyelids drooped and she completely fainted.
Chen Yang ignored her and jumped into the water.
With one more person, the raft became very unbalanced and swayed violently at the slightest movement.
He planned to collect more planks from the surrounding area before it got dark to expand the lifebuoy.
So Chen Yang held onto the raft with one hand and swam in the water, collecting building materials as he went.
Chen Yang spent the rest of the day working on the expansion project.
By evening, he had expanded the originally simple wooden raft into the size of a small boat.
Although the design is still incredibly ugly, its stability is much better than the original.
After basking in the sun all day, Zhang Xiaolan slowly woke up. Her complexion gradually returned.
Based on her previous performance, Chen Yang guessed that this girl must have also added points to her constitution, and was most likely a player who went for a balanced build.
"Awake?" Chen Yang climbed onto the boat and looked at Zhang Xiaolan sitting on it.
She nodded silently, without saying a word.
A small pile of supplies was neatly arranged in front of her:
Two packs of cookies, a pack of chocolates, a box of candy, and a bottle of unopened purified water.
She deftly separated half of the biscuit and half of the chocolate and pushed them in front of Chen Yang.
Zhang Xiaolan looked up at Chen Yang and said seriously:
"Here's half of the supplies we agreed on. Take it. Do you have a container for water? I'll give you half."
"No need for water."
Chen Yang casually replied, took the supplies, and tore open the chocolate packaging.
Smelling the rich aroma of cocoa, he rubbed his temples.
He wondered what would happen to his bizarre "negative entropy state" after he ate.
With a question in mind, he opened his mouth and took a bite.
[You have consumed high-energy food. Strength temporarily -1, Constitution temporarily -1. Duration: 6 hours]
Chen Yang's hand froze: "..."
Looking at the fragrant chocolate in his hand, he instantly lost his appetite.
So while others eat to replenish their health, he eats to give himself a weakness buff?
With a dark expression, he resealed the opening and handed it to Zhang Xiaolan along with the bag of cookies.
"Never mind, I'm not that hungry, you can keep it for yourself."
It wasn't that Chen Yang wanted to curry favor with Zhang Xiaolan; it was mainly because he had lived in northern Myanmar and knew how precious food was.
Since this thing is not only useless to me but also has the opposite effect, I shouldn't waste it. I should leave it for someone who can use it.
But Zhang Xiaolan interpreted this action in a completely different light.
She shrank back warily, clutching her chest tightly with both hands, her voice trembling:
"Even if you save me, I won't sell myself for a little food..."
Chen Yang looked at her and his lips twitched: "..."
Seeing that Chen Yang remained silent for a long time, Zhang Xiaolan gritted her teeth and reiterated:
"I'm serious. I'd rather die than betray myself!"
"No, who said they wanted to buy you?"
Chen Yang was speechless after being annoyed by this girl, so he simply took the supplies back.
"Fine, fine, if you don't want it, then forget it, I'll keep it myself."
Seeing that Chen Yang had withdrawn his hand and seemed to have no further interest in her body, Zhang Xiaolan finally breathed a sigh of relief, and her tense body relaxed slightly.
Chen Yang ignored her and turned around, his gaze falling on the eerily calm water.
Given the nature of this endless game, the first day was a crazy flood, the second day was a giant whale crashing into a building, and today should logically come up with something new.
