Chapter 17 Calling for People
Chapter 17 Calling for People
The farmer went to buy supplies for his family, while Li Wei stayed behind to discuss and explain his origins.
"Wandering knight from a foreign land, we have a band of robbers here. Wipe them out and bring us the head of their leader, 'Tax Collector' Matthew, and I will pay you 100 groschen (silver coins)."
"If you capture him alive, I'll pay you a full 300. If you capture one of their accomplices, I'll pay an extra 10 Grosschen. How about it, interested?"
Li Wei, who was finally able to open for business, readily agreed, but the governor wanted prisoners, which made Li Wei curious and ask.
"Why not just kill the robber? Why do you want him alive? And why is there such a big difference in the amount of money they offered?"
The consul sighed.
"Knight, it would be best to capture him alive, because if he is captured alive, the lord will pay for it. He will hang this damned bastard to warn the others. If we only get his head, then our village will pay for it ourselves, so there is a big difference."
As for the others, buying a laborer for 10 Grossens is a very good deal for us.
Li Wei shrugged.
"Okay, I'll see."
After bidding farewell to the governor, he looked at the road in front of him and scratched his head, wondering how he was going to find someone.
What does it mean to go west? They are hiding in the forest between the two villages.
I don't know anything about tracking, so I'll just call in people and do a thorough search.
Just as Li Wei was about to walk through the village to draw talismans and summon people, he saw a young man squatting by the wooden cangue on the execution platform, helping a group of people look around and unlock the cangue.
Seeing Li Wei looking at him with great interest, he gave Li Wei an awkward smile and then quickened his pace.
"We've been spotted! Hurry up!"
"How would I know that this person didn't go to lunch and was just wandering around the village?"
Looking at the young man in front of him wearing Pinduoduo armor, Li Wei suddenly realized where he had come from. No wonder the name Tax Collector Matthew sounded familiar.
The Gospel of the Bohemian Farmer, Henry. (Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2)
And these nimble movements tell you it's the Thief Saint version, not the Super Hero and Mouth Cannon or any other version.
Li Wei stroked his chin, deciding to try and build a relationship with the Thief Saint. This guy was a complete troublemaker and unlucky bastard; as long as he followed him, he'd never be bored.
After he unlocked the door, she slowly walked over and pretended to know him before asking him a question.
"Henry? Weren't you working for Sir Capone in Terra? What are you doing here?"
"And who are you?"
The man being tortured on the scaffolds stretched his neck and gave a reminder.
"This is not the place to talk. Let's get out of the village first."
After following the two out of the village, once they were sure it was safe, the other man ran off, while Henry leaned against his horse and observed Levi.
He placed his hand on the hilt of his sword, ready to retreat or strike at any moment, and shook his head as he spoke.
"Sir, I'm certain I don't know you."
Li Wei opened his mouth and started to bluff.
"Of course I don't know you. We've never met. I only saw you once in Terra. You don't think you're not famous, do you? You went from being a blacksmith's son to a knight in just six months."
You've made quite a commotion; anyone who's interested will notice you.
But it seems you've run into big trouble. Where are your parents? Were they letting you out here alone to steal and commit petty crimes?
That makes some sense, Henry relaxed and replied somewhat helplessly.
"Well, a lot has happened lately, everything's been terrible. Anyway, what can I do for you?"
Li Wei pretended to be nonchalant as he spoke.
"It's nothing, I just think you have the potential to become a big customer, so I came to say hello. We've been looking for work around here lately, and if you have the money, we don't mind giving you a hand."
"Hiring mercenaries?"
"They could also be outlaws."
Henry considered it for a moment.
How many of you are there?
Li Wei originally wanted to say fifty, but it's best not to bring mages into this world, so he decided to exclude them.
"47. We're professionals. We'll do anything as long as you pay us enough."
Henry wasn't stupid, as anyone could believe, but he was now cornered. After a moment's thought, he gritted his teeth and answered.
"I have no money right now, but you've been to Terra and know me, so you must also know Young Master Capone. We're trying to rescue him and we need manpower. As long as you rescue him, Lord Hannah won't mind paying you a large sum of money."
Li Wei took two steps back, making a gesture to let others pass.
"I agree. Come find us when you need to work. You won't be disappointed."
Henry mounted his horse and bid farewell to Levi. Watching Henry's departing figure, Levi nodded in satisfaction.
Brother Di, I should be fine following your chosen one now, right?
He stretched and went into the woods to start calling for help.
"Jesse, how's it going at Firelink Shrine?"
Jesse, a low-ranking knight of Astra, has pledged allegiance to Levi, and Astra has a long history.
The cause of its demise is unknown. Perhaps it was due to the conquest by a tyrant, or perhaps it was a normal dynastic change, or perhaps it was related to dragons, or perhaps it was due to an overabundance of living corpses.
But the traces left by this country are everywhere, all of which indicate Astra's glorious past.
But now, the end of the world means nothing to the immortals.
"Sir, the situation at the fire site is alright. The farmers are also receiving training, and they are all working very hard."
Li Wei only exchanged a few pleasantries, without any other meaning, and then continued to draw summoning runes on the ground with white wax stone.
Once everyone had arrived, Li Wei, looking at the group in front of him, had to give a special reminder.
"Guys, this is a new world. Although whether the new world is peaceful or not is none of your business, I still have to say it: no killing indiscriminately."
Alright, now let's begin. We need to find a gang of bandits in the forest. They're capable of killing. Now, everyone, space yourselves ten meters apart and conduct a thorough search. Let's go!
As soon as they set off, these guys started causing trouble. They wouldn't let any living creature go. They would dig up and chop up any rabbits, and even shoot a squirrel that popped out of a tree with a crossbow bolt.
The entire search operation was so slow that even a group of old ladies could have done it faster, but Li Wei wasn't short of time, so he could take his time searching.
A few days later, Li Wei received news that the people had been found, but when Li Wei arrived, he couldn't find a single one breathing, and several others had been impaled like porcupines.
Not knowing who Matthew was, they simply chopped off his head and took the reward.
Coins still have their uses. You can exchange them for arrowheads at the blacksmith or oil and whetstones at the general store to maintain your equipment.
When Li Wei arrived at the consul's place dragging a sack full of heads, the consul was stunned. Where did this murderous genius come from?
Just as Li Wei was taking the money and leaving, he heard the consul speak earnestly.
"Sir, have you noticed anything strange in the forest? Our hunters have discovered that all the animals have been killed."
Fortunately, they didn't attack anyone, but this has already affected our lives. We're willing to pay two hundred Grossens to resolve this problem.
Excessive hunting of animals can result in being wanted by the police.
Li Wei looked at the governor in front of him, who knew that he was the one who had caused the trouble, and replied.
"No, but I'll go check it out."
