Chapter 25 Final Battle Against the Bandit Leader
Chapter 25 Final Battle Against the Bandit Leader
"【Running】17, distance to next level: 93/346."
[One-handed] 15, distance to the next level: 110/277.
[Two Hands] 5, distance to next level: 10/60.
After entering the bandit camp, a total of fourteen bandits were killed, and a large amount of experience was gained.
In the upcoming battle, Luo Xu did not intend to wield the sword with both hands, as a level 15 [one-handed] sword had a much greater advantage than a level 5 [two-handed] sword.
He tiptoed and reached around the corner.
The firelight flickered, and Luo Xu's shadow on the cave wall grew longer and shorter.
As they reached the corner, Luo Xu pressed himself against the wall and slowly peeked out.
Behind the corner is a more spacious cavern.
In the corner were several large wooden crates and sacks stuffed full, which were probably supplies looted by the bandits.
A row of simple weapon racks stood against the wall, with a few single-edged swords stuck in them, and a few bows and crossbows hanging on them.
A cotton armor hung on the wooden rack next to it, with a dark brown leather outer layer and several iron plates nailed to the lining.
Luo Xu shifted his gaze to the left, and a tent propped up against the cave wall came into view.
There seemed to be no one inside the cave, but he did not venture forward rashly.
The closer it gets to the final moment, the more cautious one must be. He could have waited for Captain Walter and the others to arrive before going in together.
Just then, a suppressed sob came from inside the tent, followed by a man's curse.
"Lie down properly, or I'll kill you!"
It was the voice of the bandit leader.
Luo Xu narrowed his eyes and immediately loaded a bolt into the crossbow.
This band of robbers may have kidnapped women from elsewhere, and their leader is currently indulging in pleasure; now is the perfect opportunity to kill him.
He lowered his body and crept silently over.
Luo Xu held a crossbow in his left hand and a sword in his right, constantly watching his right side. The entrance to the cave was narrow, making it impossible to see anything on the right side of the cave.
As they went deeper, the right side of the cave gradually came into view.
There was some dry grass on the ground, and a middle-aged woman was tied up there. Her mouth was stuffed with a strip of cloth, her clothes were disheveled, and her exposed skin was covered with bruises.
Next to them were two male corpses, the blood beneath them having dried long ago.
On the innermost haystack lay a middle-aged man, his hands and feet bound, and his clothes did not resemble those of a villager.
Luo Xu put his finger to his lips, signaling them to be quiet.
The middle-aged woman and the middle-aged man's eyes lit up, and they both nodded obediently.
Luo Xu turned his head to stare at the tent, and stopped abruptly after taking just one step.
At this moment, apart from the woman's sobs, there was no other sound from inside the tent.
The next second, a burly figure rushed out of the tent. Completely naked, wielding a scimitar and a round shield, it was the bandit leader.
He saw the crossbow Luo Xu was holding in his left hand, his expression changed slightly, and he subconsciously glanced in the direction of the weapon rack and armor.
Without the slightest hesitation, Luo Xu pushed off the ground and charged straight ahead.
They didn't rush towards the leader, but towards the weapon rack.
The leader immediately understood his intention and rushed in the same direction as him.
Luo Xu arrived a few steps ahead and stood between him and the weapon rack.
The bandit leader abruptly stopped, glancing warily at the crossbow in Luo Xu's hand. He quickly bent his knees and shrank behind his round shield.
In this situation, both Luo Xu and the leader knew that they only had one chance to fire their crossbows.
Luo Xu charged forward with his sword in one hand, slashing diagonally at his opponent.
The bandit leader raised his shield to block, while simultaneously raising his scimitar to counterattack.
The blow was powerful and heavy, and Luo Xu quickly took a step back.
The bandit leader pressed forward relentlessly, clearly not wanting to be put on the defensive. After dodging several of his attacks, he suddenly raised his shield and charged at him.
Luo Xu had no time to react and was knocked back a step. The curved blade followed closely behind, and he quickly bent down to dodge.
This leader had far more combat experience than him. He hid his attacks behind his shield, and immediately withdrew his scimitar after each strike, leaving almost no openings.
After a moment's thought, Luo Xu left the area with the weapon racks and turned his back to the entrance of the cave.
We absolutely cannot be reckless now; if we get cornered, we're finished.
The bandit leader immediately stepped forward, his eyes glancing at the weapon rack beside him.
Luo Xu, of course, wouldn't give him a chance and immediately rushed forward to engage him in combat.
The sound of clashing swords echoed through the cave, and the shadows of the two men danced wildly on the cave walls.
After several rounds, the bandit leader was already panting. Looking at Luo Xu, whose breathing was steady, he muttered a curse under his breath.
Damn! How come this bastard has such good stamina?
Luo Xu in front of him kept dodging, and he was conserving his strength, but he was the one who started to get tired first.
The bandit leader's eyes darted around, and he raised his shield, intending to use the same trick again.
Luo Xu was prepared, and he slammed his right foot hard against the side of the shield.
The leader felt a tremendous force and staggered back several steps, his scimitar even slipping from his hand and falling to the ground.
He looked up in disbelief, only to find himself facing Luo Xu's raised crossbow.
"Whoosh!" After a whooshing sound, a crossbow bolt pierced the leader's right leg, which was exposed beneath his shield.
The leader let out a scream, barely managing to stay upright, but he could no longer withstand Luo Xu's attacks.
"Please spare me! I know a treasure trove..."
Without hesitation, Luo Xu plunged his sword into Luo Xu's heart.
The bandit leader shuddered, and the life in his eyes quickly vanished.
"Ding! You have defeated a special enemy and gained 600 experience points."
Ignoring the system notification, Luo Xu drew his sword and glanced back at the two people on the straw mat. Seeing that they were not acting strangely, he slowly approached the tent.
Luo Xu used his sword to pry open a corner of the tent, revealing a young woman who was completely naked.
She covered her private parts with her hands and looked over in horror.
Luo Xu cleared his throat, trying to keep his voice calm: "I'm here to save you, but you need to stand up and make sure you don't have any weapons on you."
The young woman paused for a moment, then quickly stood up.
Turn around.
After making sure she was unarmed, Luo Xu opened the tent and scanned the area, but found no one else hiding there.
"Come out."
Luo Xu turned and walked towards the two bound men, cutting the ropes binding them.
"Mother!"
The young woman and the middle-aged woman hugged each other, both of them crying their eyes out.
"Thank you." The middle-aged man cracked his knuckles, then stared at Luo Xu and asked, "You don't seem to be from Calradia?"
"Yes." Luo Xu didn't continue. He looked down at the man, his eyes still wary. "How did you get tied up here?"
"My name is Vesemir, and I come from Lycalon." After introducing himself, the middle-aged man began to explain why he was there.
He claimed to be a doctor who was on his way to Orila to treat a woman, but was instead robbed by these bandits.
The bandit leader originally intended to kill him, but upon learning that he was a doctor, he spared him.
Luo Xu looked him up and down, and seeing that he didn't seem to be lying, he turned to leave when Luo Xu was suddenly stopped by Luo Xu: "May I ask what your name is?"
"My name is Luo Xu."
"Wait." Vesemir ran over, taking a folded cloth flag from his pocket. "These bandits stole all my dinars; this is the only way I can repay you."
After he finished speaking, he unfolded the flag.
Although the fabric was old, the golden dragon pattern embroidered on it was still dazzling.
This is……
Luo Xu's pupils contracted sharply as he stared intently at it.
This is a dragon flag!
